Il 5 marzo del 1999 usciva nelle sale statunitensi Cruel Intentions – Prima regola non innamorarsi diretto da Roger Kumble, al suo esordio alla regia. Nel cast troviamo Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon e Selma Blair.
Il film è stato un successo al botteghino ed è diventato un film cult negli successivi. Successivamente sono usciti erotici due film direct to video. A dicembre è stato annunciato che Prime Video ha programmato una nuova serie tv. Nel cast troviamo Sarah Catherine Hook, Zac Burgess (“Totally Completely Fine”), Savannah Lee Smith (“Gossip Girl”), Sara Silva (“American Horror Stories”), Khobe Clarke (“Firefly Lane,” “Yellowjackets”), John Harlan Kim (“The Last Thing He Told Me,” “9-1-1”), Brooke Lena Johnson (“You”), e Sean Patrick Thomas (“Till”).
