Street Artist Laika pays homage to Pietro Coccia at Venice Film Festival
In the heart of the 78 Venice Film Festival, next to the Palabiennale, a new work by street artist Laika has appeared, returning to pay homage, after almost two years, to photographer Pietro Coccia, who passed away in 2019.
“Festivals were home for Pietro and cinema was his life. I feel an immense joy knowing that Pietro will be the protagonist of a documentary: it is the most beautiful gift that cinema could give to Pietro and all his friends. I like to imagine him parading on that red carpet, which has hosted him so many times among the photographers, with his somewhat awkward walk, but welcomed like a star. A humble and generous star,” said the artist.
In 2019, Laika had honored Pietro Coccia with another work, during Rome Film Festival. Two years later, she returns to pay tribute to the photographer in Venice, on the occasion of the presentation of the documentary Pietro il grande by Antonello Sarno.
