After Homegrown, an immersion in the political and social crisis, the second feature film in competition from the USA at the 39th International Critics’ Week also seems laden with an apocalyptic tension born of our times. This time, however, the threat comes from a hurricane about to hit a Florida coastal town. But Alexandra Simpson’s No Sleep Till is not a disaster movie, but, as SIC Director and General Delegate Beatrice Fiorentino anticipates, “a film of spaces, atmospheres, solitudes, a look at America and the present“. It is also the ‘consecration‘ of the director, already a member of the Omnes Film Collective, who took two feature films to the Cannes Quinzaine this year. The SIC@SIC competition presents Marta Innocenti’s Things That My Best Friend Lost.
